Ambassadors of Christ

thWe are living in a time of great change in America.  There has been a steady decline in our culture and in our biblical doctrines.  Christian psychology has entered the Church of Jesus Christ and done much damage to the attitudes of Christian women.  Our culture has changed so dramatically since the 1940’s that you wouldn’t even know it was the same culture and people.  Both men and women have been affected by these changes.

Courtesy, politeness and tact have seemed to have gone out the window.  Where is chivalry, true bravery, honor, integrity, truthfulness to our own hurt, and self denial gone?  All of these virtues are rarely seen or experienced anymore.  And where are the “ladies” today?  Where are the women with dignity, softness, women who are chase and above reproach and honorable in every respect?  Today our women in America are brash, curse, push for their own way, are disrespectful to their husbands, yell, scream, throw temper tantrums, withhold sexual favor from their husbands if they don’t get their own way, put their husband’s down and have lost much of the femininity that made them attractive.  We have been so brainwashed in America as to what a “woman” is to be and what her role in life really is from a biblical point of view.  We Christian women must get back to the Scriptures and search out what we are to be like and how we are to act, if we are to please our Lord and our Heavenly Father.  We must Not be dragged into this modern day, worldly way of thinking, or else we will be turned away from the Word of God.  The Christian women of today must rise above this world’s way of thinking, and instead become an example for the world, to raise their standards to hers, in other words be examples as true Ambassadors for Christ.

The Bible says that in the last days people will become worse and worse, becoming lovers of themselves  and that God will turn them over to a “reprobate mind” because they did not love the truth (found in the Word of God).  Today we see the spirit of rudeness, resentment, bitterness and “I’ll get you before you can get me” attitudes  everywhere.  When you go shopping in the stores you can hardly find anyone to wait on you anymore, and when you do find an employee and ask them for help, they usually have an attitude of being imposed upon by having to wait on you because after all they were talking to the other sales clerk and did not want to be interrupted.  Gas station attendants are often the same way.  They look so perturbed that you drove up and now they have to get up off their chair and come out to pump some gas for your car.

It is so very sad to see what Satan is doing to ruin the  family today.  It is his plan to destroy the “family” and turn all our roles upside down, and the world and some Christians have bought into his program. Today the world is screaming the message through the media, television, movies, and even in some churches, that women are superior to men.  Many have bought into this lie and treat men like they were created for them, but the Bible says woman was created for the man.  That a woman is to have a meek and quiet spirit which is of great price in the sight of God.

We are told in Ephesians 5 that we are to treat our husbands with respect, obeying them as our head of the household.  We need to be sure we keep a right biblical understanding of our role as women, so that we don’t develop a “cocky” attitude or  a self-righteous attitude that will have to be eradicated from us if we are to please God and be a proper Ambassador for Christ, showing the rest of the world who God is, what His character is like and what He requires of us as Christian women.

An Ambassador for Christ is to be an example of Him on this earth to an unsaved and dying world without God.  He has planted each and everyone of us in our particular places so that we can show forth His love and be His representative to those around us.  We are to be lights set on a hill, glorifying God, doing good works that people might glorify God in heaven.  Wow.  We want to be an example to those who watch our lives, especially to our children, and to the unsaved as to what God and Jesus are like.  We do not want them to think we are “just like they are.”  We want them to see a difference in us.  We are God’s representatives or God’s ambassadors here on this earth and as we glorify God, we put a hunger into their hearts because they see Jesus in us, and that there really is a difference, and how happy and protected we are by God.

OK, now here is the question.  Do we really want to become women of God, and become all that He created us  to be?  True Ambassadors for Christ?  If so, we must deal with our attitudes, because in a great sense, we ARE our attitudes.  The wrong attitudes in us must be weeded out so that new seed of right attitudes can grow in us instead.  It sometimes takes a Rota tiller to stir up the hardened ground, get rid of the dried grass and start afresh.  We have so much that we have to unlearn.  We should understand that we will get flack from family and friends who do not know the Word.  These principles are for Christians to follow not for the unbelievers.  They will think we are crazy because we don’t line up with today’s modern woman but still we must make our stand for Christ.  We need to repent (turn around and go a different direction) if we find ourselves thinking in the old ways, contrary to the Word of God, and ask God to help us put on the mind of Christ (Romans 12).  I have to do this all the time.  If I am thinking wrongly, I have to call out right then and there and ask God to help me “put on the mind of Christ” and see things like He would, to love with His love, to be concerned for others like He was here on earth (and still is concerned), and to respond to the Holy Spirit’s conviction instead of yielding to my carnal, fleshly ways of thinking and doing.  That’s why I call it boot camp, our training ground, life being a series of tests each and everyday to see if we are passing or failing.  And if we find we are failing in some area, then crying out to God with a repentant heart to change our hearts to be like His.  I John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

These things perhaps seem hard to do, but we are in a war.  We battle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers in high places who desire to seek, kill and destroy us, our families and our country.  So let’s make a stand for Christ against these things, and teach our children to do so as well,  and fight the good fight of faith.  God will surely give us His power to do so and the ability to choose to do what He requires and is right instead of wrong.  “You have been given the power to become the children of God!” it says in the Bible.  How great is that?  So let us press on towards the high calling in Christ to win the race and gain the prize — a wonderful eternal life.
