As the New Year approaches, I often times think about the resolutions we make in order to make our lives better, our weight lighter or our finances bigger. Then I think about the Word of God and how much He desires 100% of us, every year, all the time. Although I personally do make New Year’s resolutions for the sake of having “goals”, I pray that as we make our New Year’s resolutions, that we will keep in mind that our relationship with our Lord means a renewed devotion and commitment, a seeking to know Him better and better and to become more Christ like than we have ever been before because we love Him so much. This renewed devotion and commitment comes from a true desire to want to please Him and bring Him joy, and an obedience to His will instead of ours, so that He can be proud of us, and also so we can useable and chooseable in His sight to do many wonderful things that will bless others and show what He is truly like to them. If we make a New Year’s resolution to read our bibles every day, but we do not act like a Christian in our hearts, then our resolution is more for “appearance” or to make ourselves feel “more spiritual”, rather than having a true devotion. I know one thing, as I seek the Lord and draw closer to Him, I am blessed beyond measure and my resolutions no longer seem necessary. Praise God for His amazing love!
