( Raising Children ) Deuteronomy 6:6-7 “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” As I grew as a mother, I remember some of the hardest decisions I could make involved standing firm on the Word of God when raising my children. In the world today, children and teens have so much power in the household, and the parents seem to take a back seat to parenting, out of fear for offending or making their children upset. When the Bible says to raise our children in the way’s of the Lord, that does not just mean teaching them about Jesus, taking them to church, or praying before dinner. It means that we as mothers MUST take a stand on issues in their lives that are applicable to them personally. This might involve their movie watching, whom they date, or even their attitudes. If we do not show them what is Biblically “right and wrong”, then we leave the training to the public or private school system, to their friends, and the entertainment industry. I pray that we remember that God loves us so much that he shows us the way and the truth, and pray that we remember our responsibility as parents to show love to our children in the hard to reach areas.
